GOVERNMENT RELATIONS AND REGULATORY STRATEGY (GRRS):
GRRS’s mission is to advance LSEG’s policy agenda and profile with key policy stakeholders as well as serve as a strategic adviser on reputational issues and business initiatives. Our work is focused around four pillars: advocacy, engagement, thought leadership and advisory. We partner with business divisions and functions as well as with our colleagues in the Corporate Affairs & Marketing Division to position LSEG as a trusted resource and thought leader with key decision-makers on policy issues impacting the future of our industry. The GRRS team is truly global, comprised of nearly 30 professionals across 11 LSEG offices globally, with team members speaking 16 languages across 14 different nationalities.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Given LSEG’s critical presence in the US, the increasingly complex stakeholder landscape, and their growth and expanded global footprint over the last 12 months, the institution is seeking a new Head of GRRS, Americas. Based in Washington, DC and reporting to the Global Head of GRRS, the core responsibility is to influence policy, legislative, and regulatory outcomes to support the Group’s business and strategic objectives in the region through a range of activities. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic & Organizational Leadership
Operating as an organizational strategist first and foremost, providing input on critical institutional decisions and developing functional strategies that align with organizational objectives and imperatives.
Anticipating, analyzing and communicating policy, legislative, regulatory, political and reputational developments that impact LSEG’s strategic and business priorities in the Americas and developing and implementing advocacy and engagement strategies to shape them.
Leading, managing, and developing the GRRS function in the Americas, both strategically and operationally, to further strengthen a center of excellence as a trusted business partner. Translating policy for the business and ensuring strategic execution aligned with business imperatives.
Supporting an integrated, coordinated approach to GRRS across LSEG globally, ensuring specific support to business divisions and regions while striving for consistency of message, policy risk identification and mitigation, and strategic coordinated initiatives that best showcase the company and secure engagement with policymakers, regulators, and key influencers in the Americas.
Acting as a true organizational leader, demonstrating an understanding of LSEG’s underlying business goals, and providing input even beyond core government affairs-related competencies.
Translating the strategy into a clearly articulated, actionable plan with key deliverables, which are regularly monitored and measured.
Collaborate with the Global GRRS team on key Group-wide initiatives and projects
Assist in advising ExCo and senior management on key political and regulatory developments in the Americas
Government Relations and Regulatory Strategy Expertise
Operating as the senior-most functional and stakeholder expert with US governmental entities.
Managing and growing LSEG’s network of policymakers, regulators, politicians, industry bodies and counterparts, academics, think tanks and other stakeholders in the region
Strengthen LSEG positioning and reputation with private and public sector stakeholders in Washington, DC and in the key areas in which we operate in the region.
Working with senior management to develop and drive LSEG’s policies and objectives involving government affairs and policy, working in close coordination with local, state, and internationally focused counterparts.
Connecting legislative, regulatory, and government relationship matters to key business issues and competitive drivers. Synthesizing the external environment to anticipate government and policy actions that could potentially affect the company and its business.
Establishing a positive, credible, bipartisan, and influential presence for LSEG with government entities.
Managing and reinforcing a positive, credible, and influential presence for LSEG with key trade associations, public policy and legislative groups, and other relevant external stakeholders and organizations (including NGOs).
Managing and growing LSEG’s Political Action Committee, employing creative PAC strategies to increase political engagement.
Team & Operational Leadership
Providing leadership as a functional manager, while operating as a strategist/doer.
Manage and develop a team of around 5 government affairs professionals up to Director-level (team is globally integrated with regional responsibility and cross-divisional Group accountability)
Operates day-to-day as an individual who sets broad strategy and manages work hands-on as an engaged member of the team.
Key Relationships and Committees
Internal: Senior level strategic engagement across breadth and depth of Group, including ExCo and divisional senior management, regional heads of divisions and businesses, function specific stakeholders on key issues
External: Politicians, policymakers, regulators, central bankers, customer and competitor peers, industry bodies, academics and think tanks
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
LSEG seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment, and have demonstrated excellence in prior roles. The ideal candidate will also possess substantial experience in government affairs and public policy, ideally gained through a combination of experiences in government service in the legislative and/or executive branch, and senior government affairs roles at other companies or relevant trade associations. That said, this person must be more than their relationships; this is a leader who understands the value of integrated government affairs, reputation, and engagement efforts and has a track record of developing and deploying them.
The Head of GRRS, Americas will demonstrate significant intellect, strategic capability, strong business acumen, and relationship and influencing skills, as further detailed below. This person must be a self-starter with a thoughtful, calm, and deliberative approach, balanced with an action orientation. They should also have a deep understanding of the financial services sector, including the critical policy and political elements impacting the industry. This leader should have a commercial understanding of LSEG’s business, in addition to the relevant geopolitical dynamics impacting their operations and positioning.
The successful candidate will have deep, substantive networks and relationships and must be experienced in effectively representing organizational interests before legislative and executive branches of the government on a wide range of public policy matters. An accomplished relationship builder, the successful candidate will possess established, trusted relationships with key policymakers on both sides of the aisle and should be skilled at leveraging and maximizing a company’s involvement in coalitions and trade associations. They should have a reputation as a substantive, business-minded policy executive who is viewed as an honest broker by policymakers, colleagues, and peers.
This leader will ensure that the institution is engaged in the dialogue regarding public policy issues that could potentially affect LSEG’s interests and/or where the institution would like to reinforce its positions and must be comfortable as both the public face of the institution and as a support to members of the senior leadership team.

Compensation/Benefits Information:
LSEG is committed to offering competitive Compensation and Benefits. The anticipated base salary for this position is $159,300.00 - $295,900.00.
Please be aware base salary ranges may vary by geographic location, city and state. In addition to our offered base salary, this role is eligible for our Annual Incentive Plan (AIP/”bonus plan”). Target AIP rates will be commensurate with role level and posted career stage. Individual salary will be reflective of job related knowledge, skills and equivalent experience. LSEG roles (excluding internships and part-time roles of less than 20 hours per week) are typically eligible for inclusion in our LSEG Benefits program, which includes offerings of: Annual Wellness Allowance, Paid time-off, Medical, Dental, Vision, Flex Spending & Health Savings Options, Prescription Drug plan, 401(K) Savings Plan and Company match.
