**SUMMARY:**
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Division to meet the needs of both internal and external clients. Provide daily operational guidance to ensure timely and continuous service for our producers and customers. Responsible for measuring, reporting, and improving driver productivity, equipment utilization, and routing efficiency. Also, assist in setting the strategic direction of the Division to enhance profitability and foster growth.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
- Responsible for Transportation Division daily operations, coordinating drivers, dispatch, equipment availability, and logistics to manage and schedule producer pick-ups, inventory rotation, tanker fleet availability, and customer deliveries.
- Advice in staffing decisions and personnel management, including counseling and development; responsible for resource assignments, ensuring organizational success, accountability, and transportation staff productivity.
- Establish operations best practices, tools, and metrics to deliver competitive performance while being responsible for managing expenses and operating within the division budget.
- Oversee the organization's maintenance expenses, ensuring equipment availability, utilization, and expense ratios following established KPIs; equipment responsibilities include power units, tankers, yard dogs, and other company vehicles.
- Manage all SMI's vendor equipment work orders, inspections, agriculture permits, wash tag statuses, and update fleet maintenance software with relevant equipment information.
- Work closely with company safety and DOT compliance managers, assuring timely responses to inspection findings.
- Assist logistics with establishing optimal inventory levels relative to sales and ability to manage inventories.
- Collaborate with other corporate resources to coordinate key activities during special events (holidays, hurricanes, school closings, etc.) to maintain operational effectiveness and flow of information.
- Manage Division in accordance with the Southeast Milk policies, applicable laws, and DOT regulations.
- Assist with the transportation safety program, DOT compliance, and improving the organization's CSA scores.
- Assist in establishing division budgets, capital expense, and performance goals.
**Qualifications:**
- A high school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- Extensive knowledge of the trucking industry with a minimum of five years of management experience in logistics operations.
- Strong DOT compliance knowledge with the ability to read, interpret, and develop operating procedures such as safety rules, operating / maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to communicate with internal/external customers; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, producers, and employees of the organization; demonstrated ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Excellent organizational/time management skills with the ability to independently perform a wide range of activities under general guidance with minimum supervision; extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while leading the work of others.
- Proficient in transportation management software
**Nice-to-Have Skills:**-
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics.
- Certification in Transportation Management (CTM)
