Summary
Contributes by creating and maintaining positive and professional relationships with patients and providing superior patient care and service Ensure all insurance demographic and eligibility information is obtained from patients and entered into the dental software in an accurate and timely manner.
Essential Responsibilities
- Explains procedures and/or services to patients using dental knowledge.
- Performs clerical tasks such as sorting, opening, distributing mail, scanning, and photocopying. Answer phone calls and provide information to callers; greet visitors/patients; schedules, verifies, and confirms patient appointments.
- Hears and resolves patient complaints.
- Keeps electronic records of patient interactions and transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, and comments, as well as actions taken.
- Obtains, inputs, and verifies insurance policy terms to determine patient benefit information.
- Coordinate communication between patients, family members, and dental team members for patient care and maintaining a full schedule.
- Presents financial policies and arrangements to patients collect co-payments and verify insurance coverage as appropriate.
- Tracks appointments due to no-shows, cancellations, and late arrivals
- Adheres to payment policy by collecting payment at time of service
- Maintains accurate accounting and patient records, for example, HIPPA, Open Dental documentation, etc.
- Follows OSHA regulations and safety requirements to include compliance with HIPAA guidelines, CPR, X-rays, and other required certifications and registrations.
- Serves as a supply liaison
- Maintains the cleanliness of the dental practice both in and outside the dental practice.
- Participates in marketing events to promote dental services and the practice.
- Expected to work all scheduled work days, during scheduled hours and report to work on time.
- Provides ‘Comfort Calls’ to patients post-procedure.

Experience/Requirements
All team members will abide by state and federal regulations to complete job duties
- 0-2 years’ experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite

- Digital Dentistry: Has knowledge of digital equipment and software used within practice. Examples include Open Dental, Primescan, and Overjet, etc.
Education/Training
- High School diploma or GED
Physical/Environmental
- Sitting for long periods, completing tasks using a computer and other office equipment.
- Position requires frequent talking, hearing, and vision with moderate standing, walking, and reaching.
- General clinical environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, patient body fluids and/or tissue, and physical hazards such as needle sticks.
- Job position responsibilities are generally performed in a business office environment with computers, printers, and phones.
- Extensive computer usage.
- The individual demonstrates the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- The individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Position requires frequent talking, hearing, and vision with moderate walking and reaching.
- Repetitive Motion.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
