Job Summary
Washington, DC, consulting firm seeks full-time Project Assistant to provide logistical and research support on a federal contract related to Native American housing grant administration. The Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting in all forms of project-related activities including administrative tasks, data tracking, research, meeting and training preparation, and preparing reports.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Requires solid problem-solving skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management, outside clients, and vendors. Experience in assisted housing and Native American programs a plus.
Remote candidates are welcomed with expectation that regular work hours are 8:30am-5:00pm Eastern time.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to requests for information and analyses from Tribes, tribally designated housing entities (TDHEs), and federal agencies.
- Gather current and historical HUD Indian Housing Block Grant information on Tribes and TDHEs from internal files and records.
- Draft correspondence outlining the findings of requests for information.
- Communicate with Tribes and TDHEs, both verbally and in writing, to ensure an understanding of policies and decisions regarding Indian Housing Block Grants;
- Combine effective data presentation with clear and concise writing in memoranda, reports, and other types of communication regarding policy, program, and organizational issues.
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree plus 1-2 years of similar work experience.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented and ability to ensure that data and relevant information is correct.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to disseminate complex information.
- Ability to share expertise with colleagues and receive feedback.
- Capacity to adjust to change and exhibit flexibility with tasks assigned.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online platforms (including Zoom, WebEx, and Microsoft Teams).
