Responsibilities include but not limited: (these duties are daily repetitions)
- Answering/Composing emails to our customer base
- Be sure to read prior emails in the email thread before answering
- Check Daily steamship lines for return locations
- Check ETAs on Drivers for already dispatched loads via text thread every morning
- Provide return locations to Drivers via dispatch thread
- Check LYNX system for release of container orders as to arrange scheduled delivery with customers via email
- Imports – use the container # {V- vessel out on in the water, Y- ingate ready for pick-up, T- off the Vessel but not ready for pick-up}
- Last Free Day- email customer to provide/confirm LFD
- Exports – use the booking number from the customer
- Cargo deadline ERD (time/date) – loaded container to turn into the port
- Know the difference in the chassis – 40ft, 20ft, 20ft triaxle (Company owned or not)
- Completing the Driver Dispatch Form on each container
- Knowing all the steamship lines and what type of chassis is used with which steamship line
- Dispatching drivers via text thread throughout the day and for the following day
- Communicating with drivers throughout the day via phone or dispatch thread
- Always know where the drivers are
- Keep customers informed throughout the day
- Customers should never have to ask dispatch – be proactive
- Keeping Safety/Fleet department informed of any truck issues/downtime or accidents that may have occurred
- Take the information from the driver; however, reroute the driver to safety/fleet manager
- Communication, communication and communication
Requirements:
- Must be drayage experienced
- Knowledge of all the ports is a plus
- Possess a “can do and will do” attitude
- Must have never been terminated nor suspended from a previous job for time and attendance.
- Must be computer literate -knowing how to send a properly executed email with logical thinking skills (our emails go across the nation); along with knowing how to use text messaging as a way of communicating with our drivers and office personnel.
- Typing skills is a must.
- Knowing how to multi -task and not be easily distracted is a must
- Critical thinking and logical reasoning are a must
- Strong attention to detail
- Innovative thinking is a plus
- Exceptional customer service is non-negotiable to both our external customers and internal customers (drivers and co-workers).
- Excellent telephone and email etiquette
- Must have never been arrested for theft or embezzlement.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work well in fast paced team environment
