North America’s premier trade association for the heavy equipment industry is looking for an eager individual with a high level of integrity and positivity to join a true team of Membership Account Managers. The ideal candidate will have strong sense of judgment who thrives working independently and values accountability. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Government and External Affairs. Primary responsibility is the retention and engagement of Association members through personal visits, organization of meetings with Association members and lawmakers, and promotion of Association activities, programs, and services. In addition, the regional manager will support the mission of the AED Foundation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Retain assigned Association Members and drive their engagement in AED and AED Foundation programs and services. Ensures a first-class membership experience.
- Serve as the voice of the membership in the region to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as an ambassador of the team, organization, and the industry (This is a highly visible role).
- Manage offsite government affairs events in the appointed region and organizes visits to AED member facilities by lawmakers.
- Approximately 50 percent travel to visit members in the assigned region and identifies appropriate opportunities for visits by senior management and board members.
- Manage an annual travel budget, file expense reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Travel to all AED and AED Foundation Events as needed.
- Secure annual membership renewals and maintain accurate membership records.
- Recommend candidates for AED Board of Directors and AED Foundation Board and Committees based on relationships with members in the region.
- Promote the mission of the AED Foundation and facilitate member discussions for purposes of supporting that mission.
- Follow policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports organization's goals and values.
- Approach others in a tactful manner; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accept responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.
- Consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
- Other duties as assigned to meet departmental and association needs and goals.
MINIMUM SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS:
- Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Communication Studies, Business, Political Science, Marketing related degrees encouraged to apply.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Ability to succinctly deliver effective and persuasive speeches and presentations.
- Well organized and self-directed team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with industry and association professionals.
- Expert skill level in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook. Database management experience a plus
- Ability to travel via air and possession of valid driver’s license.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- If based in Chicago, a typical office environment can be expected. Otherwise, a quiet location with a strong internet connection and cellular service is required. Other work environments include member facilities and event venues.
- Mental acuity and stamina to complete all work.
- Sedentary position; frequent standing and sitting.
- Use of hands, arms and fingers 100% of the workday.
- Use of eyes 100% of the workday; 20/40 vision with or without correction.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time to attend trade conferences, visit with customers, vendors and suppliers
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
