Full Job Description

Hannah Pet Hospitals is looking to employ experienced, full-time and part-time Veterinarians to ensure that exceptional medical care is delivered to all patients equally, with compassion and poise. Hannah’s mission is to help Pets live the longest, healthiest, happiest life possible with one forever family, at a reasonable and sustainable cost. Our Total Lifetime Care Plans provide high-quality preventive, illness and injury, dental, emergency and behavioral care to dogs and cats for one low monthly fee.

Doctors do not negotiate fees/treatment plan workups with clients (Members). ALL treatments and surgeries are included in the Member’s monthly fee; therefore, the doctor is able to focus on compassionate, quality care and appropriate treatment plans for the well-being of each Pet. Highly trained and proficient paraprofessional staff do the majority of the work required on each Pet, allowing the doctor to focus on important medical issues.

Doctors are paid on salary, not production: Annual salary with appropriate experience (for 26 weeks per year of work) is $180,000 ($150,000 annual salary plus $30,000 for deferred compensation/retirement plan employer contribution).
Work-life balance: 1 week on, 1 week off (26 weeks on and 26 weeks off, annually) for full time pay with generous benefits. Other flexible part-time schedules are available too. Relocation candidates are strongly encouraged to inquire!

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform all common surgeries using standard medical instruments and equipment.
Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records.
Prescribe and administer drugs and vaccines as appropriate.
Partner with Members to plan follow-up visits, provide home-care instructions, and education to ensure the long-term health of the Pets.
Address and quickly resolve concerns arising from any Member.
Be confident around Members, dogs, cats, bunnies, and guinea pigs.
Develop trusting relationships with Members.
Partner with the Practice Manager to ensure Members are receiving excellent service and Pets are receiving high quality care, and that the hospital operates efficiently and effectively.
Responsible for the efficient and appropriate use of inventory.
Participate in planning, budgeting and hospital productivity levels for the hospital.

Training, Education and Licensing Requirements:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
Current, state-specific veterinary licensure in good professional standing (or in the process of obtaining the state license within the shortest period of time possible), and be practicing legally at our hospital with approval of the state veterinary examining board.
Current (and maintain in good professional standing) DEA license to order, manage, and store Controlled Drugs as mandated by Federal law and use it legally in the hospital during your work hours.
Current (and maintain in good standing) USDA certification for small animals/pet practice in order to sign State and Federal Health Certifications, rabies certificates, etc.
Radiology certification within 90 days of hire, or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Annual Continuing Education per state law.
Preferred experience 4+ years general practice.

Provide high quality medicine while utilizing cost effective, conservative treatment and diagnostic options.
Foster an effective veterinary support team culture by communicating medical standards, ethical practices and veterinary knowledge and experience.
Development of the medical team to achieve the highest level of productivity and efficiency.
Provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
Effective communication techniques with Members and Team Members.
Eagerness to continue professional development.
Manage multiple tasks at one time; quickly and accurately shift attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions, without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
Demonstrate a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is very organized, excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.
Consistently ensures the Hannah Team provides the Member with attentive, courteous and informative service. Gains and shows personal satisfaction from delivering great service.
Maintains a positive outlook, rebounds quickly from frustrations and unpleasantness, and maintains composure and friendly demeanor while dealing with stressful situations.

Essential Physical Abilities

Ability to stand for up to 4 hours prior to taking a break.
Ability to walk, move, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to use hands and fingers to operate, activate, detect and position.
Ability to lift a 40lb dog onto an exam table.
Ability to hear and communicate by voice or phone in an environment with a moderately high noise volume.
Ability to see in order to determine, perceive, identify recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate and assess.
Routine exposure to biological hazards, medication/controlled substances.
