Job Title: Forestry Technician, Multiple Openings
Reports To: The Forestry Technicians will report to Supervisory Forester(s).

Job Overview
Forestry Technicians will provide assistance to Supervisory Forester(s) on projects, across varying project needs through multiple types of landowning agents. Forestry Technicians will work in the field, with some office work that may be completed remotely. Long-term employment with KAGEY Forestry, LLC is available, with seasonal positions available. KAGEY Forestry, LLC aims to certify and qualify interested individuals, with continued education and transition of project work type, with potential to gain oversight and administration allowances. Responsibilities and Duties
Forestry Technicians will be:
- Running forest inventories, through the collection of data from the field, for various project types including timber harvest operations, investment evaluations, tax resources, management planning, regeneration recruitment, and much more.
- Inspecting field work and collecting field data for various silvicultural projects, such as overseeing tree planting, pre-commercial stand improvement, and invasive species mitigation, with potential for inspecting and overseeing other field work.
- Assessing forest roads through surveying in the field and collecting data, utilizing all-terrain vehicles, with opportunities to explore remote locations on-foot.
- Laying out various project types & project specific needs in the field utilizing details, prescriptions, or specifications, to locate and identify forest access road and trail location, harvest unit boundaries, project boundaries, and surveyed/known ownership boundaries. etc.
- Designing forest roads and access points, with the proper utilization of road construction notes/notation, and field layout techniques.
- Marking timber in the field for various projects, utilizing education, experience, while following silvicultural and stand specific guidelines, prescriptions, and details.
- Burning slash piles created from project work, with opportunities to assist with Prescribed Burning.
- Collecting field data utilizing tablets, up-to-date and maintained by a KAGEY Forestry, LLC staff member, with immediate and direct tech assistance.
- Developing management plans, specifications, and GIS maps, through the collection of field data needed and administered by the Supervisory Forester(s).
- Implementing the guidelines/prescriptions for grant funded forestry and fire mitigation project work, administered by the Supervisory Forester(s).
- Restoring habitat, soil, and water resources, through specifically developed plans, by grass seeding, hand-work, and other means of project completion.
- Given Opportunities to run chainsaws (pruning, felling, bucking, etc.), run equipment (excavator, dozer, etc.), and light/fight/mitigate fires during appropriate seasons for prescribed burning project work.
- Promoted when incentive is shown and coupled with time with the company, with options for certifications, furthered education, and in-depth field experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Prior experience in the forestry industry is not necessary, but general field safety and landscape awareness is required. Possessing prior experience in the forestry industry is favorable and will be awarded.
- Employees are required to be at least 18 years of age and have graduated high school. Undergraduate college degree(s), graduate degree(s), and extended experience are not required, but will be presented with elevated pay and/or other appropriate benefits.
- Employees must possess a current driver's license, with a favorable driving record. Employees are required to have their own transportation, being operable and suggested to be all-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive, and have ground clearance to travel on uneven surfaces, on and off of roads. Travel to access a specific job/project location may require several hours of driving, with KAGEY Forestry, LLC providing and paying daily allowances for use of vehicles (personal) and covering the cost of fuel for the mileage traveled during the workday.
- Ability to operate all-terrain vehicles, safely.

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
