JF&CS is now seeking a full-time Van Driver.
Purpose:
To transport clients (primarily elderly and adults with disabilities) to medical and social appointments, jobs, classes, groups, shopping, workshops, etc.
Requirements:
- Pick up clients (or interoffice mail, baskets etc.) at designated addresses and transport to appointed destinations.

Stay in touch with JF&CS staff regarding any changes or pertinent information.

Stay current with required training, testing and certifications (CPR, CPI, TB, and other agency required training).

Fill out details about each trip before and after each pick-up or drop-off and return it in a timely manner, including logging mileage/odometer for each trip and keeping office staff informed of changes.

Visually check vehicle daily for any damage or safety concerns, tire inflation, etc. and record on log.

Ensure that vehicle gas tank is at least half full at the end of shift.

Maintain vehicles as to cleanliness and regularly scheduled maintenance items.

Let staff know of any issues with clients that might be of concern, liability or otherwise.

Assist clients in and out of vehicles and with seat belts as necessary.

Escort any clients designated as “door to door.”

Call clients in advance to confirm rides (especially early morning or out of the way pick-ups).

Deliver and pick up Renterpieces as needed.

Assist with random errand requests on behalf of Agency that involve transportation.

Be able to assist clients in wheelchairs into and out of the wheelchair vans and from their door to the van and from the van to the doctor’s office or other destination.

Complete incident reports and procedures as appropriate.

Be familiar with and able to operate all agency vehicles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Driver needs valid driver’s license and current and clean DMV record and no criminal history. Must be capable of learning to use wheelchair lift. Must be able to extend excellent customer service. Driver is expected to interact with all clients and staff in a courteous, friendly, professional and helpful manner. Must have positive attitude and be able to deal flexibly with frequent additions and changes to schedule and be able to be very patient in all, including stressful, situations. Must be a team player.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and climb in and out of van many times per day. The employee frequently is required to assist clients with seatbelts and must be able to use tie-downs to securely fasten wheelchairs which require bending, stooping, and stretching. Driver then must be able to push in their chairs up and down ramps and into/out of their homes, doctors’ offices etc. The employee is required to listen to instructions, read maps, and follow directions The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in carrying out errands for various Agency programs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include excellent vision and auditory skills for safe driving.

The work environment is the streets and traffic of Atlanta and the vehicle with often talkative and sometimes distracting clients.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Preference is given to those with professional driving experience and good communication skills.
