Position Summary:
We are now hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse ( LPN) to assist Physician(s) and the Nurse Manager by preparing, maintaining and anticipating patient needs for all surgical procedures in accordance to regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Nurse Manager with clinical and administrative tasks
Obtain intravenous access upon patient admission
Obtaining supplies from other areas as needed
- Returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate location
- Effecting handling health or safety hazards for self and patients
- Reporting any unusual occurrences or incidents accurately to the Clinical Director
- Performing other duties as required
- Reviews charts for completeness, follows up on missing data.
- Assists RN in admission and discharge of patients in Pre/Post surgery area.
- Reinforces CCLSC approved teaching materials with patients and families.
- Measures and records vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, respiration, and
pulses; measure and record weights.
- Safely provides wheelchair assistance to patients.
- Demonstrates competency in computer skills when accessing clinical information.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for pre/post room care.
- Remains calm and functions as a team member
- Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens
- Maintains or acquires skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities
- Informs perioperative RN of applicable day-to-day situations
Qualifications:
- LPN

0-3 years of experience

Maintains current BCLS certification and completion of required annual in-services

Ability to work in a surgery center environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease under a moderate level of noise

Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy

Must be able to organize and set priority for work to be done

Possesses manual dexterity, mobility, visual acuity, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, attendance, and good interpersonal skills
