Job Summary:
The Stepping Stones School is looking for a part-time physical therapist (up to 14 hours / week). This position is on-site at the Roseland location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates motor development and posture of classroom children and administers physical therapy activities according to individual needs specified in each child’s IEP
- Evaluates students to identify developmental deviations and any postural or skeletal problems and reviews written or verbal information concerning students in order to determine the need for physical therapy services
- Performs ongoing individualized, detailed, and documented assessments of students known, or suspected of having, physical therapy needs, utilizing evaluative tools and skills unique to physical therapists
- Participates in the evaluation process to aid in establishing diagnosis, prognosis, problems, goals, placement, and treatment plan
- Reviews and implements each student’s IEP goals and objectives
- Plans and prepares written treatment program for each student
- Provides quarterly written progress reports
- Functions as an active participant as a member of the transdisciplinary team.
- Maintains appropriate student records
- Educates and assists student’s family in providing follow-up care
- Attends staff conferences and confers with other team members and consultants
- Communicates with parents in writing as needed
- Supervises the maintenance of classroom and other program equipment to maintain safe operating condition
- Protects students from injury, accident, harm or unnecessary discomfort or illness
- Reports and records all unusual events involving a student’s safety, training, and general development
- Maintains good public relations with family members and other visitors
- Continues professional development by attending workshops and training as assigned in addition to regularly scheduled school hour meetings
- Periodically works irregular hours, as assigned
Education / Work Experience / Skills:
- BA/BS degree in Physical Therapy
- New Jersey License to practice as a physical therapist
- NJDOE Public School Certification
- Proven experience working with special needs children and/or pediatric experience

Located in Roseland, NJ, the school is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children with cognitive impairments such as Down Syndrome, and other children with similar educational and developmental needs.
