Position Summary
The Mechanical Designer is under the direct administrative supervision of the Project Engineer and/or the Division Vice President. The CAD/BIM Associate performs engineering duties with CAD and BIM software by creating, modifying, and designing plans for complex projects in the commercial, industrial, and institutional plumbing, process piping, and HVAC fields.

Position Duties
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
· Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
· Design and prepare detailed electronic (CAD and Revit) working plans, charts, and/or scale drawings for complex projects from observation, measurements, sketches, and specifications.
· Communicate with Project Manager to obtain details of equipment and materials requirements.
· Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided by customers and/or Project Manager. Review and manipulate electronic files received from consultants and departmental contacts.
· Compose basic computations to determine strength of materials, and requirements for structural design.
· Provide technical guidance and direction to the Engineering Department in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of electronic files.
· Modify computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications
Education, Skills and Experience
Years of Experience: 2-5 years of sufficient experience in drafting with a concentration in commercial, industrial. and institutional plumbing, process piping, and HVAC or Mechanical Engineering Design firm.
Education: Associate degree in CAD Drafting or BIM modeling preferred or certification in CAD Drafting from an accredited Technical School
License, Certification or Registration: Certification in CAD Drafting or BIM Modeling
