Theatre Teacher
Primarily Reports to: Principal
Secondarily Reports to: Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent
Minimum qualifications:
The Theater Arts Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal and Director of Fine Arts, shall direct the instructional program for all theater arts students and coordinate all campus theater arts activities.
- Bachelor's Degree – Theater Arts Education
- Current Texas Teacher Certificate – Theater Arts/Drama
- Strong skill set in all areas of theatrical production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Instruct students in secondary theater arts curriculum.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of theatrical production.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of current industry trends, methodologies, and practices.
4. Maintain theater arts department budget, inventory, and general department operations.
5. Support all district policies regarding welfare and education of theater arts students.
6. Demonstrate knowledge of health and safety requirements related to school environments, including first aid and disaster response.
7. Coordinate campus theatre instruction to provide support to all theatre activities and campus/district programs and events.
8. Actively participate in professional development of teaching competencies, including district/state/ national opportunities for developing theater arts instructional skills.
9. Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support theater arts education at the local, state, and national level.
10. Coordinate theater arts opportunities for students and perform at campus, district, state, and national events
11. Develop a successful working knowledge of UIL, International Thespian Society, and TETA activities, coordinating the successful involvement of students in such events.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
There are mental, physical, and environmental demands, such as maintaining emotional control under stress, frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Although the employee may have periods of sitting, oftentimes, the employee will be moving around and on their feet. Moving small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment as needed.

The noise level is low to high and may have interruptions.
