Quality Assurance Engineer
NWS Technologies, LLC is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the Quality Team in implementation of quality assurance programmatic requirements for nuclear safety valve testing and refurbishment. This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure quality requirements are maintained to meet NWS QA Program and Customer requirements.
- Pre-job review of Customer purchase orders, work travelers, procedures, repair/replacement plans, machining instructions, welding documents, drawings, QAP’s, and other project and quality-related documents.
- In-process review of testing and refurbishment work travelers.
- Support receiving inspection of Customer parts and consumables, including maintaining QA controlled inventory.
- Review and verify dispositions to anomaly reports, including placement and removal of hold tags.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Verify all work performed at NWS is according to Customer requirements, procedures, and purchase order / contract agreements.
- Perform assigned QA witness / hold points as identified in work travelers.
- Perform pre-shipment review of valve data packages.
- Interface with Customers and the Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI).
- Inspection oversight of in-process welding, machining, NDT, and other inspection processes.
- Assist quality team to ensure controlled documents / current revisions are up to date.
- Assist in review of internal calibration records and subcontracted calibration services.
- Daily involvement and engagement in morning SQDIP meeting.
Position requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in quality assurance system / department.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate quality and technical requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in NQA-1, 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR21, and ANSI N45.2, quality requirements. ASME B&PV Section IX or XI experience a plus.
- Experience implementing quality assurance programmatic controls in a growing business.
- Experience in ASME B&PV Section IX programmatic welding controls desired.
- Experience in NDE examination including VT & PT.
- Minimum 2 years’ inspection experience in a mechanical or electrical discipline desired.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with knowledge and practical experience working with nuclear QA codes and standards desired.
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience in technical field is desired.
- AWS CWI with ASME B&PV Section IX experience desired (including experience in qualification of WPS / PQR and WPQ).
- Nuclear commercial grade dedication experience is a plus.
- Experience in aerospace (AS 9100) QMS quality department may be substituted depending on type of experience and qualifications.
