Job Summary:
The Database Administrator SME (Lead), designated as key personnel within the task area, assumes an authoritative role within EOIR's Database Management operations. This central figure is tasked with harnessing extensive knowledge and experience in database systems, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server, to ensure robust and resilient database services within the organization. As a lead, their focus is on the administration, performance optimization, and overall integrity of the database.
Note: Position is contingent on contract award.
Requirement:
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Must have an Active Public Trust Security Clearance.
- This position is onsite at designated DOJ locations.
- Certification in Microsoft SQL is preferred.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors in Comp Sci/IT and 10 yrs exp in database admin OR Masters and 8 yrs related exp
- Relevant certifications in database systems, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, are highly advantageous.
- Extensive experience and proficiency with database administration, including significant expertise with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proven capability in handling database high availability, backup, and recovery operations.
- Competency in performance analysis and database tuning to ensure efficient data access and security.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation, such as data models, data dictionaries, and an inventory of licenses.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to quickly address and resolve database issues.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with team members, management, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of databases to ensure high availability and contingency readiness, which includes efficient backup and recovery strategies.- Conduct thorough monitoring and tuning of databases to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Manage the archival, retention, and purging of data in accordance with EOIR policies and compliance requirements.
- Keep an accurate inventory of database licenses and track their utilization.
- Respond promptly to support requests and issues related to database usage.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Database Administration, ensuring consistent and high-quality database management practices.
