Are you interested in supporting a non-profit group seeking to improve engagement for families of children with disabilities in the special education system?
The SPAN Parent Advocacy Network is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower families and inform and involve professionals and others interested in the healthy development of children throughout New Jersey. SPAN is funded through private contributions and grants from government, foundations, and corporations.
SPAN is seeking a skilled and experienced full-time Project Coordinator, who will enhance the involvement of empowered and educated parents and caregivers in improving academic and health outcomes for children in New Jersey.
The Project Coordinator position is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. This is a remote position, with frequent travel to attend meetings within New Jersey. This position may require Saturday and Sunday hours. The Project Coordinator is also expected to attend quarterly meetings of SPAN staff, as well as various training conferences. All SPAN staff are also required to complete SPAN’s Resource Parent (SRP) training program.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate check-ins with parent support groups as needed to provide guidance, coaching, and progress monitoring toward grant deliverables and annual performance goals
- Provide guidance on professional development opportunities for Parent Group Specialists
- Assist Project Director with onboarding of new hires
- Review workshop evaluation data to ensure high-quality trainings that are meeting project deliverables
- Conduct ongoing project activities data monitoring, analysis, and reporting
- In collaboration with SPAN communications staff, track monthly website/webpage visits and report on progress monthly
- Monitor and report on the membership of regional Facebook groups administered by the project
- Identify schools for participation in technical assistance and training activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must have a thorough knowledge of issues related to families of children with disabilities
- Demonstrated commitment to improve capacity of parents to engage with schools to improve outcomes for with disabilities
- Should have experience in parenting or caregiving for a child with a disability or special needs
- Experience in organizing teams and collaborating with colleagues to provide high-quality services
- Experience in providing training and technical assistance to parents and professionals.
- Experience in developing action plans with measurable goals and objectives, appropriate activities, and timelines.
- Outstanding communication, training, and organizational skills
Job Requirements
- Facility with written and verbal communication
- Experience with computers and knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, database software, and internet is essential
- Experience using virtual meeting/training platforms, Google platforms, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email management, and database software programs is essential
- Outstanding ability to work well with a wide spectrum of people
- Capacity to analyze, synthesize, and summarize data including qualitative data
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Ability to work well independently as well as with a team.
- Capacity to exercise independent judgement and sound decision-making
- Reliable transportation resources and availability to travel locally and statewide
- Demonstrated commitment to the goals of the project and organization
