A DC-based non-profit focused on global grantmaking is looking for an Accounting Assistant to provide financial and administrative support. This is a hybrid position that will require one day per week in-office (Alexandria, VA). You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing account analysis, and assisting with budgeting and financial reporting. This is an entry level position for someone looking to pursue a career with a mission-oriented non-profit.
Responsibilities of the Accounting Assistant include:
- Responsible for managing and executing daily accounting functions and will maintain accurate accounting records for the company
- Generates accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses
- Reconciles and reports differences or issues found in financial records
- Completes bank and credit card reconciliations
- Provide Administrative support to the Finance team
- Maintain confidentiality and security when handling sensitive financial data in virtual and in-person settings
- Collaborate with colleagues in virtual and in-person environments to ensure smooth workflow and effective teamwork
Requirements of the Accounting Assistant:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or other related field
- 1-2 years of finance or accounting experience (or relevant internships)
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, QuickBooks and other accounting technology
- Experience with bookkeeping and a solid understanding of accounts payable/receivable principles
- Experience with Salesforce is a big plus but not required
- Superior attention to detail and ability to accurately navigate large and detailed databases
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
