Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy program approved by the Council of Medical Education of the American Medical Association and Engaged in the required supervised clinical experience period prerequisite to registration by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
Licensure: Current Texas State License to practice occupational therapy
Salary: Therapist must commensurate with education, experience and ability.
Job Summary: A Physical Therapist provides physical therapy to patients of all ages and directs and oversees care by physical therapy assistants.
Essential Functions:
· Evaluate, develop, organize, implement, and direct patient care.
· Review and implement requests for physical therapy including patient evaluation, plan of care and treatment.
· Document all patient information, evaluation, plan of care and treatments performed as well as the patient's action and reaction to physical therapy intervention in WebPT.
· Perform and oversee other team members, when applicable, in the performance of patient care that is consistent with patient’s needs and desires.
· Maintain patient confidentiality in accord with agency policies and procedures.
· Brief patients, when applicable, of procedures involved in their care and maintain patient dignity with proper treatment, set-up and draping procedures at all times.
· Involve patient/family in planning objectives, goals and expectations for the patient and participate in, as well as in discharge planning.
· Ensure patient's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights including the rights to wage complaints are observed and maintained at all times.
· Meet mandatory continuing education requirements of Aptus, licensing board, and state.
· Apply concepts of infection control and universal precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
