The Electrical Service Estimator must have the ability to organize and develop accurate service estimates and quotes in a timely manner. A successful candidate for this position will have experience preparing electrical estimates/quotes and 5+ years of field experience as a Service Electrician working in commercial and industrial settings.
Responsibilities:
- Review client requests for electrical service and maintenance projects.
- Attend site walks with Service Manager and document project requirements.
- Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and other project documents to accurately estimate project costs.
- Collaborate with service technicians, service managers, and other team members to gather necessary information for service project estimation and daily service calls.
- Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs to develop accurate needs and pricing for daily service work, service emergencies, and service projects.
- Identify cost & time restraints and other risks involved with the project.
- Perform calculations pertaining to profitability and margins.
- Handle all permit applications. Coordinate all city and county inspections related to estimated service work and projects.
- Work with service team members to provide timely and accurate billings to customers. Familiarity with AIA billings and change order processes and procedures.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of field experience as a Service Electrician working in commercial and industrial settings.
- Have an in-depth understanding of Commercial & Industrial electrical work.
- Understand the NEC and apply it.
- Adhere to all electrical rules and regulations.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Deep understanding of electrical systems, components, and installation methods.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Be able to complete an estimate without drawings or prints by walking the job and understanding customer needs.
- Be able to perform electrical calculations, such as sizing of wire and conduits.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Advanced computer skills & understanding of Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook and Excel.
- Proficiency in McCormick Estimating or similar estimating software.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to safely travel to client sites as required.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours or more per week to complete timely estimates.
- Be able to follow all company safety policies, and procedures.
