Diesel Mechanic Job Description
We are looking for physically fit candidates with good attention to detail for the position of diesel mechanic. The primary duties of a diesel mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results, and identifying any other repairs that need to be to the vehicles.[WK1]

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
· Perform routine maintenance on trucks & trailers performing all aspects of maintenance including but not limited to, electrical, lights, brakes, tires, suspensions, and changing oil to ensure the vehicles run properly and to avoid down time.
· Inspect all parts of trucks to ensure they are in the proper condition to operate effectively.
· Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using devices such as motor analyzers, handheld computers and chassis charts to determine how to address problems.
- Test drive vehicles to ensure they are running properly and to find issues to determine what the solution will be.
- Replace parts, valves, bearings and gears as needed and repair vehicle cooling and heating systems.[WK2]
- Ensure parts conform to factory specifications by inspecting and verifying clearances and dimensions.
- Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.
- Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist.
- Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop area and willingness to help with anything the management deems important.
Diesel Mechanic Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Hours must be flexible.
- Valid CDL driver's license with manual transmission designation.
- Must be able to pass FHWA/USDOT drug test.
- Heavy equipment/forklift operation is an A+
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and controls A+
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.
- Good IT and diagnostic skills.
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.
- Attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
