Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Anesthesia Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and comfort of our small animal patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary anesthesia, a desire to solve problems both independently and collaboratively, and a passion for animal care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare animals for surgery, including administering pre-anesthetic and anesthetic drugs
- Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery, using ECG, capnograph, and blood pressure to assess and respond to changes in condition
- Maintain accurate anesthesia logs and medical records (EzyVet and VetRadar)
- Collaborate with veterinarians and technicians to plan and implement anesthesia protocols
- Assist veterinary specialists with consultations and diagnostic evaluations
- Participate in daily rounds discussions of all patients
Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) or equivalent required.
- Specialization in anesthesia with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Proficiency in use of anesthetic medications and calculation, anesthesia machines, and patient monitoring systems.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology, pharmacology, and sterile technique.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
