Job Summary
Orion Laboratories is in search of a part-time Laboratory Assistant in the evenings to become a valuable member of our expanding team based in Baton Rouge, LA. As a Lab Assistant, you will work under the direct supervision of our Laboratory Manager. This position entails data entry, specimen collection, preparing and processing patient samples for testing, and inventory management. An ideal candidate is an organized thinker who is task-conscious while working in a dynamic team environment. We value people who can strategically drive the team and serve as a liaison between the laboratory and our customers in response to inquiries and problems.

Schedule:
- 5:30-9:30 PM, Monday-Friday
Salary:
- Hourly Rate: $14.00 to $20.00
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
- Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
- Entering data and verifying information received from patient samples
- Proactively identifying issues and escalating as appropriate to senior leadership
Qualifications:
- Associates degree (or equivalent experience)
- Essential skills in Email communications, and Computer systems such as Excel and Word
- Strong work ethic, excellent written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and dealing with ambiguity
- Patient, communicative, team player that is detail oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to translate complexity into simple and intuitive actions plans and communications
- Must be flexible and demonstrate the ability to quickly change priorities to meet business needs
