Skilled Venue Grounds Keeper & Landscaping
Starting pay is $19-$22 an hour DOE
Part-Time
The Chateau Lill is a 10-acre estate located just outside the Woodinville city limits. We are seeking a Part-time Venue Grounds Keeper & Landscaping to join our team. The ideal candidate will be interested in a long-term role and a detail mindset in keeping the property show ready! The position will require hands-on work and possibly taking on specialized tasks in the gardens. There will be an initial training period working with the owner of the property & our Master Gardener which will lead to a weekly schedule of maintaining specific areas of the venue by yourself with some direction by the Venue Manager.
Duties Include (but not limited to!):
● Greeting and assisting guests and visitors
● Picking up litter and debris and sweeping outdoors before and after events
● Last minute interior check prior to guest arrival; garbage emptied
● Replacing light bulbs around property (exterior building; flood lights; low voltage lights; Christmas strings)
● Spreading gravel in trouble spots in parking pastures prior to events (during periods of heavy rain)
● Monitoring and adjusting pond flow valve during periods of heavy rain (flood prevention)
● Keeping highway gutters clear during periods of heavy rain
● Checking highway for litter
● Skimming pond algae as required (summer)
● Monitoring and repairing or reporting broken fences/posts
● Monitoring and repairing or reporting property safety concerns
● Repairing or reporting property and building maintenance concerns
● Property enhancements
● Feeding and monitoring animals for health and safety
● Ordering animal feed
● Monitoring and filling (animal) water buckets
● Mucking stalls
● Monitoring owner property when away
● Helping with indoor and outdoor tasks and projects as required
● Turning down heat, turning off lights and locking building at end of day
Annual tasks, jobs and projects:
Early Spring:
● Wasp control
● Orchard pruning
● Cut back ornamental grasses
Spring (prior to first wedding in May):
● Hanging basket purchase and placement
● Close all spigots on property and turn on irrigation
● Replace pond screens and fountain
Early fall:
● Purchase and place outdoor fall display (pumpkins, etc.)
● Remove pond fountain and overflow screens (after weather cools)
Late fall (Nov):
● Remove hanging baskets and annuals (weather dependent – generally they stay until after the first hard frost)
● Turn off water and open all spigots to bleed irrigation lines. Spigot locations:
o (4) upper property
o (3) on outside of garden barn
o (1) just inside and to the right of big door in garden barn (behind outside spigot)
o (1) on patio retaining wall near pond (at end of boxwood hedge)
o (1) next to patio pond on other side of creek at corner of pond edge (underground)
o (1) opposite steps on other side of creek (midway down creek in garden bed)
o (1) in lilac hedge (parking area)
Mid-winter (Jan):
Weddings in Woodinville property prep:
o Plant containers with annuals
o Rake and weed garden beds
o Replace exterior lights
o Deadhead rhodies and hydrangeas
o Property sweep/enhancements as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 38 per week
