Who We’re Looking For - We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lending Underwriter to become part of our team! You will evaluate new loan requests, perform in–depth due diligence, outline potential credit risks and recommend approval for commercial loans. A successful candidate will also have the interest and ability to help built out underwriting procedures, create templates, make policy recommendations and work as an integral member of a large team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform underwriting and due diligence functions related to new commercial loan requests in accordance with the lender’s credit policies and prudent lending practices and guidelines.

Works directly with business development officers and borrowers to correctly assess credit worthiness.

Evaluate complex financial information to determine potential customer’s financial stability, debt repayment ability and collateral coverage by reviewing trends relative to industry standards, assessing recent financial performance and estimating potential risk based on cash flow analysis.

Ability to draft clear and complete credit memorandums for compliance with prudent lending standards.

Analyze borrower credit quality and collateral quality, etc. as expected from scopes of work.

Obtain missing files and/or missing documentation as needed.

Identify risks (and mitigants) to cash flows, collateral and management ability.

Review appraisal, environmental and other reports to include synopsis in credit memo.

Maintain appropriate internal and external customer expectations of excellent service, responsiveness and follow-up.

Exercise independent judgment in the performance of risk assessment/analysis and underwriting

Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other equivalent experience.

Five to ten years’ experience as an Underwriter of all types of commercial based loans; at least 3 years with an emphasis on SBA underwriting.

Knowledge of all federal and state regulations regarding sound lending policies and practices.

Intermediate to advanced understanding and knowledge of SBA eligibility, SBA SOP, and guidelines

High-level skills in assessing quality of SBA loans.

Sound judgment, strong interpersonal and technical skills and a professional demeanor.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks / assignments on time without direct supervision.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, learn new concepts and understand the impact of changing technology on workflow processes.

Ability to work with cross functional groups throughout all levels within the organization and participate in the problem-solving process.

Ability to identify and mitigate credit risks

Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, business reports and legal document.

Proven excellence in written and oral communications.

Ability to prioritize work and perform under limited supervision.

Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Strong prioritization and organization skills.
