Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Read work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as types and number of parts to be grinded and the appropriate machines or equipment to be used.

Examine work pieces for defects and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws to scrap out the parts before grinding them.

Grind parts to completely remove the gates from the castings creating a smooth finish or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools, power tools and machines.

Mark defects such as cracks and splits for repair.

Move controls to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding processes.

Use auto-grinders for heavy gating and h and grinders for smaller gating based on the type of the parts, using abrasive belt grinders.

Setup grinding fixtures (automatic and manual grinders) with supervision and set the dimensional requirements; replace belts and parts when needed.

Select files or other abrasives, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.

Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure grinding standards are met.

Finish the assigned work in the allotted time and maintain the production levels.

Sort and store castings according to part number and daily log production.

Feed the number and types of parts worked on in the ERP system using the routers.

Place scrap castings in assigned carts as instructed by the supervisor.

Use computer programs to record accurate data/ follow router / achieve rates established or notify lead person for effective communication.

Inspect and report product or equipment defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.

Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor to Production Supervisor.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) as instructed by the supervisor.

Report any accident occurred in the plant related to person, equipment, material or any other to the Production Supervisor as soon as possible.

Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee handbook and adhere to proper code of conduct while in the company property.

Ensure work meets quality standards and is performed according to established procedures.

Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner and comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

Attend scheduled training programs to enhance skills and for safety purposes.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience Requirements/Preferences:
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
-
At least two years’ work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required.
Skills & Physical Requirements:
-
Basic mathematical, grammatical, and arithmetic skills required.

Thorough understanding of mechanics and other properties of machines.

Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and blueprints.

Ability to follow proper safety protocols.

Ability to determine whether machinery is working properly based on specifications for expectations such as fixtures, cutting speeds, or feed rates.

Must be able to work in noisy environments.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, unassisted at times.

Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
