Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) is recruiting Firefighters for the Fall 2024 Front Range Fire Consortium (FRFC) Academy and to create an eligibility list for the Spring 2025 FRFC Academy.
Our firefighters protect life and property by operating in a firefighting and rescue capacity at various emergencies, such as fires, technical rescues, medical emergencies, hazardous material releases, disaster operations, and any other emergency that presents risk to the public. Firefighters operate under the supervision of the Company Officer, Group or Division Supervisor, or Incident Commander.

Salary Information- Firefighter Step 1 per the LFRA step plan
- During Academy: $73,125 annually / $34.21 hourly (40-hour schedule)

This position must attend the Front Range Fire Consortium (FRFC) Fire Academy.
Specifically, this position:
- Ensures the response readiness and operating reliability of all firefighting, communication, and personal protective equipment assigned.
- Works two consecutive 24-hour shifts and is prepared to respond at any time.
- Performs general maintenance work in the upkeep of the fire facilities, equipment, and apparatus.
- Performs firefighting activities including laying hose and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks.
- Participates in the rescue and recovery of trapped persons utilizing specialized equipment and/or other operational needs as determined by the Incident Commander.
- Participates in business pre-fire planning and inspections of buildings, hydrants, and other structures.
- Responds for recall to duty within Department operating policies.
- Responds to emergencies such as but not limited to fires, emergency medical incidents, extrications, technical rescue, hazardous material spills, mutual aid, and public assistance calls.
- Maintains health and fitness standards meeting all department physical capability testing requirements on an annual basis, and prior to resuming full firefighting duties from extended injury or illness.
The Firefighter must have:
- Solid knowledge of Emergency Medical Services.
- The ability to learn fire suppression operations and the use of emergency equipment.
- The ability to learn and apply standard firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention techniques.
- The ability to perform strenuous or peak physical activities during emergency, training or station maintenance activities for prolonged periods of time under extreme conditions such as heights, intense heat, cold, or smoke.
- The ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
- The ability to effectively communicate and follow verbal and written instructions in the English language.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports related to incident response.
- The ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
Qualifications (copies of all required certifications must be attached to this application in order to be considered)
- NTN FireTEAM and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) Part 1
- Valid scores- submitted by May 6, 2024
- Valid Driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Current CPAT certificate
- CPR-Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Provider or equivalent
- Current State of Colorado EMT-B;
- OR current NREMT AND State of Colorado EMT-B within 3 months of hire date
- NIMS ICS 100/200/700/800
- Ability to successfully complete the Front Range Fire Consortium Academy and pass the Academy test
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's Degree in the Fire Protection discipline or related field preferred
