Job Description
GSG Consultants, Inc. is seeking a self-motivated individual to work on our team of diverse professionals in our Environmental department as a mid-level Environmental Scientist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).
- Assist PMs in Site Remediation Program (SRP) and Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) projects through field sampling and/or reporting.
- Field activities such as soil, groundwater, and sediment sampling; soil borings, water wells, geological logging and interpretation; and oversight of investigations and remediation subcontractors including laboratories, excavation, and drilling companies.
- Support soil and groundwater assessments, geophysical surveys, and waste determinations.
- Record test data and prepare reports, summaries, or analytical tables.
- Install, operate, and perform routine maintenance on field sampling/testing equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Environmental Sciences, Geology, or related technical field
- 4-6 years related work experience in the field; experience with environmental field sampling and data collection is preferred.
- Familiarity with Illinois EPA regulations such as TACO, SRP and CCDD.
- Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of GIS software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Demonstrated verbal communication and technical presentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability/desire to lead tasks.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance and regulations.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (or ability to obtain).
