Brighton Park Neighborhood Council (BPNC) is an intergenerational community-based organization dedicated to equity and racial justice. The Grant Writer assists in writing, reporting and prospecting grants to support the Brighton Park Neighborhood Council. This includes but is not limited to: applications to local, state and federal funding opportunities; proposals and applications to private foundations, corporate foundations; and completion of associated materials. The Grant Writer works closely with the Executive Director and leadership team.
CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write and submit grant proposals and other funding requests with quality, timeliness, and attention to detail. This will involve research, independent writing, procuring letters of support, completing various funder forms, and collaborating with multiple internal and external departments.
- Review and facilitate the completion and submission of executed grant agreements or contracts, including filing all relevant funder documents on the shared network.
- Navigation and understanding of various online government and private funder grant portals.
- Support with updating the agency’s grants calendars to track proposal and reporting deadlines for a portfolio of approximately 50 active grants.
- Deliver reminders and follow-ups to program staff regarding upcoming grant-related deadlines.
- Support Finance Department in identifying grant expenditures, sharing grant budget information, and other grant-related fiscal inquiries as needed.
- Research and identify viable funding opportunities from public and private foundations.
- Prepare lead-up and follow-up materials for funder site visits and/or program audits.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain highly accurate and current funder data and communications in multiple agency databases.
- Develop and run various financial and donor reports.
- Support with drafting campaign solicitation materials including emails, infographics, brochures, etc.
- Generate various mailing lists for varying donor communications.
- Generate year-end acknowledgment letters to individual donors.
- Support BPNC’s online presence through relevant posts to social media accounts and website updates.
- Participate in development-related internal and external meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Alignment with BPNC’s mission and vision.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience
- At least 2 years of grant writing and/or reporting experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Must be able to provide two ore more grant writing samples (proposals or reports) you have submitted within the past 12 months.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile reports and correspondence, as well as comprehend and make inferences from RFPs and other written grant materials.
- Experience with utilizing donor databases (i.e. DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc.)
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Must be capable of primarily working remotely, with the flexibility to meet and/or independently work in or around Brighton Park a maximum of eight hours per week.
