Position Summary:
The Plastics Injection Molding Process Engineer is responsible for coordinating and performing the sampling and qualification of all new (and supplied) tooling and follow procedures and embrace new technologies.
Required: Plastics Injection Molding
· Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
· Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
· 10+ years combined manufacturing and processing experience in an injection-molding environment
· Extensive knowledge of plastic resins and their properties
· Extensive knowledge of mold design to recognize potential issues and recommend alternative economical solutions
· Experience with design and mold flow software (Pro-E, Solidworks, Cimatron)
· Expertise in Scientific Molding
· Analytical skills and mechanical aptitude – Statistical Analysis
· PC experience
· Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude
· Organizational skills and maintain good attendance
Plastics Injection Molding Preferred:
· Working knowledge of analytical testing (DSC,DMA,TGA,FTIR,GPC)
· Working knowledge of Mini Tab or other statistical software
Responsibilities:
· Treat all internal and external contacts with uncompromising respect and integrity under all circumstances.
· Coordinate mold samplings and part layout for customer approval.
· Review product and tool design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and contract requirements.
· Sample new tools, establish, document and develop tool specific Scientific Injection Process for new and furnished tooling.
· Provide thorough and complete documentation of each sampling.
· Serve as manufacturing representative during quotation, design, tooling and quality planning phases of project development.
· Participate in Corporate Tooling Review meetings to establish plant specific standards and concerns.
· Establish optimum and repeatable processing conditions to maximize quality and profitability. Work on Set Up time reduction and standardization ideas.
· Utilize the most scientific and logical process and process control systems at our disposal. Optimize legacy tools and existing processes for continuous improvement.
· Collaborate with Automation to help design jobs for manufacturing consistency.
· Travel to offsite samplings of tools to help troubleshoot and prevent issues before start of production.
· Follow company safety procedures to ensure your safety as well as the safety of others.
· General housekeeping to keep the work area and plant clean.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
