A leading electrical contractor known for delivering high-quality solutions to a diverse range of industries is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead their largest division located in Chicago, IL. The company is a leader in the electrical contracting industry.
Position Overview:
The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the division. This role requires a seasoned leader with a proven track record in managing large-scale electrical contracting projects and leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals. The General Manager will drive business growth, ensure operational excellence, and uphold the company’s standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management: Provide visionary leadership to the division, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Oversee daily operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Financial Performance: Manage the division's P&L, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded. Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability. Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and partners. Lead the preparation and presentation of proposals and bids for new projects.
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of electrical contracting projects. Ensure projects are completed in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications. Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during project execution.
- Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Foster a positive work environment that encourages professional growth and development. Ensure the team has the necessary resources and training to succeed.
- Operational Efficiency: Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Optimize resource allocation, supply chain management, and project scheduling to maximize productivity.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols.
- Client Satisfaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients and ensure their needs are met or exceeded. Address any client concerns promptly and effectively. Strive for excellence in customer service and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical contracting industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale electrical projects and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing a significant P&L.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic plans to drive business growth.
