DESCRIPTION, RESPONSIBILITIES, & DUTIES
- Observe and reflect on students to plan and facilitate a hands-on, effective curriculum and instructional strategies, which promote social/emotional development, communication and language development, intellectual and cognitive development, visual-spatial processing, sensory-motor function, and executive functioning.
- Ensure the safety and general care of each child enrolled in the class whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in common areas.
- Prepare daily plans and acquire teaching materials from our abundant resources
- Conduct daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children, sharing responsibility for large-group activities and using appropriate adult/child interaction strategies with all children
- Collect anecdotes and information for required ongoing assessments
- Lead parent-teacher conferences
- Model communication and compassionate problem-solving strategies and assist children as they learn to negotiate and manage conflict.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and be engaged with fellow teachers in mutual support and feedback.
- Provide an inclusive classroom, maintaining a positive mindset toward each child and celebrating each child's unique abilities
- Utilize technology to communicate with families and colleagues on a weekly basis.
- Demonstrate an excellent ability to provide general class details, convey student growth and learning information, write narrative progress reports for each student, and share ideas with clarity and precision, both orally and in writing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- BA/BS degree in Education or Child Development for lead teachers- REQUIRED
- BA/BS degree in Education or a related field for assistant teachers- REQUIRED
- 3+ years of preschool teaching experience- REQUIRED
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching preschool-age children implementing a project learning model. Experience with students who have special needs, a plus.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary reflects a 5-hour, in-person work day (8:30-1:30 Monday-Thursday; 8:30-12:30 Friday) from August-May. Teachers are placed on our salary scale and paid based on their degree and years of experience. Summer camp positions are available during June, July, & August with additional salary.
