Overview: The Nursery Sales yard Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the operations of Cascadian by assisting customers, maintaining inventory, and ensuring a positive experience. This role requires a combination of customer service skills, plant knowledge, and physical stamina.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Assistance:
· Greet customers warmly and assist them in finding plants.
· Assist customers with loading purchases into their vehicles.
2. Inventory Management:
· Receive plant deliveries, unload shipments, and inspect plants for quality and health.
· Organize plants, in the greenhouse for easy access and visual appeal.
3. Sales Support:
· Effectively and clearly communicate consistently with the sales office/staff of customer needs.
· Maintain a clean and organized sales yard environment, including sweeping, watering plants, and removing debris.
4. Plant Care:
· Water, prune, and care for plants to maintain their health and appearance.
· Monitor plants for signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies and take appropriate action.
5. General Duties:
· Collaborate with sales staff members to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.
· Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
· Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated on new products, plant care techniques, and industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in horticulture wholesale/retail sales, or customer service, required.
- Knowledge of plants, gardening techniques, and landscaping principles.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers and staff.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills for processing transactions and accessing inventory databases.
