SUMMARY
As a Project Engineer at Russell Marine, LLC, the individual will be accountable for providing support to the project management and operations departments. The Project Engineer is responsible for directing, coordinating, and assisting in the successful completion of marine and/or railroad projects within the individual’s area of responsibility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists throughout the bidding process (i.e. obtaining multiple quotes, developing estimates, and changing order proposals).
- Conducts and documents weekly project owner’s meetings and decisions (i.e. daily, weekly, and monthly logs for project updates, foreman logs for accuracy, and timecard review).
- Assists the project team with site safety documentation and coordination, including weekly safety inspections, and safety investigations.
- Prepares and maintains project control over all documentation, submittals, and RFI logs by disseminating updated drawings amongst the team, and redlining drawings as the project progresses.
- Prepares and maintains project schedules by studying the project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements).
- Monitor costs and project progress, including cost budget sheets, manhour tracking, quantity claiming, and material and equipment tracking).
- Maintain the project schedule, coordinate required activities, and resolve problems should they arise. This includes weather tracking log, vessel schedule tracking and coordination, and progress on the project.
- Creates quality control plans, work plans, hold points, and project closeouts.
- Develop controls to prevent issues from occurring and/or reoccurring.
- Oversees and manages project productivity, reports to management weekly, and prepares monthly pay estimates.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor of Art or Science in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited college or university. Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire. Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Experience: Two years experience with project (field) engineering in marine construction.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Must have a general knowledge of and experience with HCSS, Heavy Bid, Excel, and CAD. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Must have the ability for problem-solving and be able to interpret a variety of instructions given in written oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Must meet specific vision abilities, including close vision and color vision.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certification(s): Adult First Aid w/ CPR and AED. Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience: Proficiency in scheduling software, such as Bluebeam Revu.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Thorough knowledge and skills in marine construction operations, such as welding, pile driving, crane operations, barge operations, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
- The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal floatation devices (PFD), and/or other protective equipment.
- The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required.
- The individual may occasionally be required to sit in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.
- The individual may be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
- The individual may be required on occasion to climb ladders, stoop, board boats, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- The individual may be required to lift objects with a minimum of 10 lbs and a maximum single-person lift of 50 lbs. This could result in frequent lifting or carrying depending on project needs.
