SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will handle a wide variety of responsibilities including assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports, monthly and year-end closings, account reconciliations, and all other accounting functions. The Staff Accountant will ensure financial records accurately reflect business performance and financial controls are in compliance. The position will also assist in the analysis and evaluation of data. Additional duties include assisting in the closing, forecasting and budgeting processes. The position will report directly to the CFO and will interact with the Accounting & Finance team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll.
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare supporting documentation for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements.
- Assist with external audit teams around compliance testing, quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation.
- Compose analyses for income statements and monthly balance sheets for management reporting.
- Organize, analyze and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable to the management team.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and provide explanations.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Respond to queries from other finance and company-wide managers regarding financial results, special reports, and related topics.
- Assist with the company's expense reporting activities, ensuring that all expenses are recorded accurately, receipts are verified, and any discrepancies are promptly addressed.
- Regularly review and reconcile company credit card accounts, ensuring all transactions align with company records and addressing any inconsistencies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as necessary to support the accounting and financial reporting functions.
QUALIFICAITONS:
- Degree in accounting.
- CPA designation preferred, but not required.
- 5-7 years of public accounting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Previous experience in the construction industry preferred, but not required.
- Excellent software skills (including Excel and PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Self-starter with the desire to create and grow the position.
- Detail-oriented and accurate.
- Comfortable in a dynamic environment that moves quickly.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
