Medical Insurance Collections Job Description
- Candidates must have the following qualifications:
- Insurance collector experience (over 1 year)
- Proficient with handling appeals and insurance verification
- Use effective communication skills to follow up with insurance plans
- Proficient with Microsoft excel
- Knowledge of medical appeal guidelines by insurance plan
- Experience with multispecialty billing guidelines, including but not limited to OB/GYN, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, PCP etc.
Requirements and/or Responsibilities:
- Minimum of one year of experience in medical billing and insurance.
- Experience with billing and collections of physician commercial insurances.
- General knowledge and application of Medicare and Medicaid billing guidelines, insurance reimbursement, claims appeal process, and managed care contracts.
- Process denials to determine if a claim needs to be refilled, re-submitted, or appealed with the insurance carrier.
- Review patient insurance information to determine or identify claims denial trends.
- Follow up on denied or unpaid insurance claims and appeals.
