WILDLIFE CONFLICT TECHNICIAN
NATURAL RESOURCE TECHNICIAN 3 (IN-TRAINING)

Please note: Salary listed does not include the 5% premium pay granted to all King County employees. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for 5% premium pay for positions located in King County.
Are you interested in learning more about human-wildlife conflict and resolutions?
You will provide for the coordination and implementation of Wildlife Conflict Section goals and objectives within their area of responsibility of South Region 4, King and Snohomish counties. Provide technical support to address commercial crop, livestock, and other private property damage primarily caused by ungulates (e.g. elk, deer) and/or carnivores (e.g. bear, cougar, wolf).
We are recruiting to hire at the Natural Resource Technician 2 or 3 level, and we will train a 2 level hire up to the Natural Resource Technician 3 level.
Depending on which level you are hired at, your salary will be as follows:
Natural Resource Technician 2 - $2,940.00 - $3,883.00 Monthly
Natural Resource Technician 3 - $3,294.00 - $4,385.00 Monthly

In this dynamic role, you will assist employing wildlife damage management practices to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts such as fencing, hazing, damage permits, trapping, installing signs, applying deterrents/repellants, deploying sound emitting devices or bio-deterrents, installing electric fencing, and monitoring trail cameras.
With your experience, you will assist with implementing novel approaches to mitigating human-wildlife conflict including community education efforts to provide for management and mitigation of elk, deer, bear, or other wildlife conflict scenarios.
The optimal applicant will exemplify integrity, have respectful communication skills, and are passionate about assessing the needs and establishing resolutions related to wildlife conflict.
We are seeking a candidate to work cross-program with Enforcement and, at times, with tribal collaborations regarding wildlife conflict resolution.
