Job Overview:
We’re looking for a talented Systems Engineer who has the necessary experience to support our techs in the field and contribute to high-level project and disaster recovery work. We have a great team of IT professionals that are all ready to help each other if the need calls for it. The ideal candidate for this position can prioritize client project work with helping techs at the client sites while being ready to jump in when called upon for ransomware/disaster remediation work. The remediation work requires an appreciation and acceptance for chaos as these companies are being impacted organization-wide and our team is on the front lines to help them recover. Whether it's helping other companies get back on their feet because of a ransomware outbreak, or helping our own clients spin up a new DC, the work will be varied, challenging, and rewarding.
Essential Functions:
- System administration including: user account management (Active Directory), backup systems, security management, e-mail systems including Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, internet access, office systems, and applications support
- Managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure
- Supporting servers, network infrastructure, desktop hardware, software, and applications
- Ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Performing technology needs analysis and providing solution suggestions
- Implementing and supporting the network and computing infrastructure plan
- Assisting with technology planning through ongoing research
- Updating site documentation
Skills:
- Must be personable and like working directly with customers
- Knowledge of Windows servers, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365
- Knowledge of network infrastructure including switches, wireless access points, firewalls and cabling
- Knowledge of network and system protocols: internal/external DNS, SMTP, SNMP, DHCP
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting UNIX /Linux based environments
- Solid Cloud experience, preferably in AWS and Azure
- Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Familiarity with implementation and support of onsite backup solutions with offsite replication (e.g. StorageCraft, Veeam)
- VPN, SSL, IPSEC (client based and site-to-site)
- Familiarity with firewalls, ability to troubleshoot rulesets (Fortigate, SonicWall, Cisco ASA)
- Ability to administer a 30+ node network
- Experience with 365 migrations (either hybrid or stand-alone)
- Must have good troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to commit to a schedule and be prompt
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and as a team member and manage task lists
- Ability to identify specific needs of clients and devise plans for opportunities and solutions for problems
- Ability to respond to user questions in a timely manner; prioritize requests, organize, schedule, and coordinate a variety of activities and projects
- Working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 7+ year experience within IT realm
- Must have own reliable transportation.
- Must occasionally be able to ascend/descend ladders up to 30 feet high for cabling requirements and mounting of wireless access points, repeaters, routers.
- Must occasionally be able to move, transport, or reposition equipment weighing up to 80 pounds to mount and maintain servers and battery backup systems.
Preferred:
- 10+ years experience within IT realm
- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+
- Microsoft MCSA, MCSE
- Fortinet Firewall Experience/Certification
- Cisco Experience/Certification
