The Research Assistant provides support to the Principal Investigator (PI)’s research, including recruiting, enrolling and, data collection. Providing other research support including, data collection, scheduling follow-ups, providing progress reports and providing education to study participants.
Minimum education requirements
- GED or high school diploma.
Communication skill requirements:
- English proficiency required
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
Minimum job-related experience needed to perform the job, including number of months or years:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Preferred Experience: In clinical trials or related field for a minimum of 6 months
- Work in a field related to health
- Experience working with patients
- Experience with health coaching
- Knowledge of IRB applications and submissions (desired)
- Good Clinical Practices – CITI course (desired)
Contacts and working-relationships required on the job:
- Internal: Project personnel, physicians
- External: Patients and project personnel at other study sites
Job Duties:
- Work with principal investigator, project manager and clinicians to identify potential study participants
- Screen patients for study
- Obtain informed consent
- Recruit and enroll patients in study
- Perform baseline assessments
- Strive to meet recruitment goals
- Follow protocols for collecting data accurately and regularly share feedback with project leadership
- Maintain open communication with project leadership and collaborate on updates, changes and adjustments.
- Perform regular health coaching calls with study participants, including motivational interviewing, collaboratively developing SMART goals, and developing action plans
- Establishing rapport with participants
