We are hiring a Fleet Supervisor!
Reports to: Fleet Manager
Work Location: Brandon, MS
Overall Summary:
The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for the supervision/management of all fleet and shuttle equipment at hub and cross docks, and all items tied to the performance of that equipment – maintenance, repairs, safety, and compliance with all federal and state regulations. The Fleet Supervisor is also responsible for planning and scheduling the repair work.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Daily
- Works with the Transportation Manager and/or Cross Dock Managers to identify and determine equipment needs
- Provides an adequate fleet of functioning equipment to the Transportation Manager and/or Cross Dock Managers
- Identifies any issues that would prohibit the ability to meet equipment use expectations, and communicate the reason(s) immediately to the Transportation Manager and/or Cross Dock Managers
- Identifies equipment training needs, and coordinates and assists in the training with the Transportation Manager and/or Cross Dock Managers and/or Driver Supervisors
- Documents each issue presented from the daily performance call and/or received verbally or via e-mail; immediately communicates a plan of action to resolve each to his/her supervisor; and provides an hourly update for all major issues, and one final update for minor issues until each issue is resolved
- Completes immediate repairs needed through partnership vendors and/or provides backup equipment, and communicates the resolution and/or plan until a resolution is confirmed
- Distributes, collects and files DVIRs
- Certifies equipment is functioning, trucks have adequate fuel; and all staff have access to equipment inventory/locations, truck keys and fuel cards prior to all route departures/ commencement of shuttle operations
- Troubleshoots all equipment issues, and provides adequate resolutions and/or backup plans prior to departures
- Serves as the main point of contact between all equipment vendors, such as Ryder
- Works with vendors on determining “best practices” – identify most cost-effective methods to implement and better service quality and service
- Monitors, tracks and regulates: Equipment Inventory; Equipment, Fuel and Maintenance Costs; and Seal Compliance
- Maintains an Inventory Spreadsheet: a record of all equipment – updated daily
- Maintains a Cost Tracking within the Inventory Spreadsheet: Equipment, Fuel (ESF) and Maintenance Costs
- Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedure on equipment processes
- Identifies staffing equipment training needs, and coordinates and assists in the training with the Transportation Manager, FXD Managers and Driver Supervisors
- Other assigned duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Class A CDL - REQUIRED ***
- Strong sense of entrepreneurial spirit with relentlessly high standards and attention to detail
- Broad training in a related fleet management, usually through college or work-related experience
- Comprehensive fleet management experience for 3-5 years minimum
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing business and environmental conditions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Excellent computer skills in Excel, MS Word, and WMS
- Flexibility with schedule to visit and audit multiple sites with differing shift schedules
Compensation Package and Perks:
- Competitive Annual Salary Range Based on Experience: $55K to 60k base salary.
