JOB DESCRIPTION:
Diligent Delivery Systems is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to plan, organize, and manage the operations and activities of the Accounting team. In the role of Accounting Manager, you would be responsible for supervising the day-to-day processes of the team as well as improving the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes, systems, and workflows while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
In addition to standard accounting expertise, ideal candidates will also possess strong analytical skills & attention to detail, be eager to tackle problems and tasks both big & small & will be a self-starter with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of both the general ledger and operational structure/systems
- Lead team in reconciliation of transactions with attention to detail for any items impacting the company’s financial operations
- Collaborate with other Accounting Manager(s) to support department goals and objectives, including monitoring and analysis of department work product and flow to develop more efficient procedures and maximize use of resources
- Responds to inquiries from the CEO, CFO, Controller, Assistant Controller and other managers/peers regarding financial variances, analysis, and special projects
- Advise team members regarding the handling of non-routine transactions
- Respond to inquiries regarding settlements, financial results, special requests, etc.
- Work with the Controller & Assistant Controller to ensure timely delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financials as well as coordination of year-end financial audit.
- Provide training to new and existing team members, as necessary
- Address team member issues
- Work with the team individually to establish goals and objectives for each year; monitor and advise on progress to enhance professional development
- Support the Controller & Assistant Controller with special projects and other duties as assigned
TO BE SUCESSFUL IN THE ROLE, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS:
- Strong leadership and management skills
- “Hands on” approach to problem solving
- Sound judgment with capability and confidence to make on the spot decisions
- Attention to detail; accuracy of data is a must
- Minimum of 5 years experience with preparing and understanding accurate financial statements with variance explanations and footnotes, as well as the timely preparation of monthly reconciliations and variance analysis
- Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented positive attitude
- Willing to work overtime when needed is a must
- Excellent communication skills through email and phone
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment with constant deadlines and sometimes switching tasks midstream while still maintaining a good quality of work product
- Independent, strong thinking; no issues with adapting to changing circumstances
- Experience with Great Plains Dynamics and Excel
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Proven experience as a Accounting Manager
- 5+ years experience with preparing and understanding accurate financial statements
- 5+ years direct management of a team
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate thoughts clearly
- Exceptional planning and organization skills
- Should be highly adaptable, a detail-oriented self-starter and able to work autonomously when required
- Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively as well as independently
- Ability and desire to problem solve, prioritize, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Mastery of MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel experience (Macros, PivotTables, V Lookups, and complex formulas)
- Experience with property rendition, unclaimed property reporting, and gross receipts tax a plus
- Experience with budgets and forecast a plus
- Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) accounting experience a plus
- Transportation and/or freight experience a plus.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
