Mission
The objective of the position of the Instructor is to assure that students of Career Care Institute receive the most current training available in their chosen field of education. Instructors are responsible for all aspects of instruction, including student training and evaluation. The core responsibilities of an instructor are to teach and guide the student through the current, approved curriculum and provide evidenced based research/continuing education service to the school including curriculum improvement and other administrative assignments.
Instructors must demonstrate a superior knowledgebase in their specialized areas. The instructor is expected to enhance student success through the application of motivational strategies geared toward improved student outcomes. Instructors should apply superior skills in all phases of their field of specialty, subject or program of the school’s curriculum in which they teach.
Education/Experience:
(A) Registered Nurse:
- Hold a current California active license as a Registered Nurse; and
- Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one year full- time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse within the last five years.
(B) Licensed Vocational Nurse:
- Hold a current California active license as a Vocational Nurse; and
- Hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved school; or a valid teaching credential; or have completed a minimum of one year full- time teaching experience in a state approved registered nursing or vocational or practical nursing, or psychiatric technician school within the last five years; or met community college or state university teaching requirements in California; and
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience as a vocational nurse within the last five years.

Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to the general responsibility, the is responsible for the following duties:
- Participate in instruction of students.
- Cooperate with the Campus Director, Office Manager, Receptionist, Student Services, Career Services, and Instructors
- Opens and closes classrooms as assigned and in keeping with school schedules.
- Clock in and out accordingly.
- Encourage and assist students experiencing difficulty with progressing in their course satisfactorily.
- Monitor student activities and physical facilities for safety compliance.
- Take attendance, monitor student assignments and report absences, tardies, grades and student conduct violations to the registrar via advisement form, electronic database.
- Document all private discussions with students pertaining to school using available vehicles such as incident reports, progress reports and/or Student Advisement Form.
- Provide weekly audit reports
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Maintain current working knowledge of current and Federal, State and Local Requirements of the field in which they teach, Career Care Institute policies and rules, syllabi and lesson plans, current school catalog.
- Monitor student breaks.
- Prepare for class in advance.
- Cooperate with supervisors, director(s), students, and advisory board members for improvement of the curriculum.
- Have expertise in their field and able to demonstrate all training procedures.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of the classroom at all times. Do not leave classroom unattended for extended intervals unrelated to instructional activities.
- Report any major problems to the Campus Director and/or Director of Nursing.
- Adhere to syllabus as designed or prescribed by Career Care Institute.
- Maintain supplies and inventory and order supplies sufficiently in advance to allow for shipping and/or notify Clinical Coordinator.
- Uphold and enforce school policies.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and demeanor at all times with students and with CCI staff.
- Maintain appropriate confidentially with staff and student issues and discussions.
- Discourage classroom disruptions or engaging in excessive talking regarding non-school related issues.
- Avoid using pagers or mobile phones in the classroom/clinical setting
- Avoid having food and drinks other than bottled water in the classroom/clinical setting.
- Current CPR/BLS card and/or instructor card.
- Have on file annual negative skin or biannual negative chest x-ray for TB
- Have on file titers showing immunity to MMR and Varicella
- Have on file titer showing immunity to hepatitis B or signed and dated declination waiver
- Be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- Be able to turn, lift and transfer patients
- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds to waist level
- Be able to push or pull patients in wheelchairs to a minimum of 150 pounds
- Be able to perform the above duties without limitations which might cause injury to themselves, students or the clients in the clinical setting
- Provide notice of extended leave six months in advance.
- All problems concerning employee issues are to be addressed to the DON in a courteous and professional manner by requesting an appointment.
- Instructors are prohibited from using their position of authority to influence students in support of a personal agenda or against the school administration.
- Instructors must not use sick time to free themselves for employment elsewhere.
- To the extent reasonable, instructors are to prepare for all planned leave and provide lesson plans for all absences resultant from scheduled leave and coordinate scheduled leave with the DON.
- Routinely review exams, tests and if applicable quizzes on a weekly basis.
- Provide progress reports for students on a monthly basis.
- Arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of class.
- Participate in instructor evaluations.
- Provide a thorough orientation for students that have just entered the classroom.
- Familiarize yourself thoroughly with school policy via the CCI catalog/handbook.
The fact that certain duties may not be listed does not limit the
performance of additional duties.
Qualifications and Skills
(A) Registered Nurse:

- Management / Leadership Experience
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills required

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
