LEGACY Site Coordinator – National Capitol Region
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to lead and execute the Department of Air Force Leadership Experience Growing Apprenticeships Committed to Youth (LEGACY) program in the National Capital Region. Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing, a background in science, technology, engineering, or math, and extensive computer application knowledge are required of the ideal candidate. Teamwork is crucial, and it is imperative that you have demonstrated management and leadership skills, as you will be reporting to the STEM team at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB).

At Griffiss Institute, our goal is to establish ourselves as a national premier talent and technology accelerator. The Griffiss Institute collaborates with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base-based Air Force STEM Office to support the AF STEM LEGACY program, which aims to inspire the next generation of STEM talent.
The DAF LEGACY program is three phases designed for students from 11 years old to the completion of their bachelor's degree. LEGACY is intended to introduce STEM at a young age, continue growing students' interest in STEM, and eventually hire these students into a STEM driven Air Force career.
You must be a US Citizen and you must be eligible for a Security Clearance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Communicate with LEGACY program managers at Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
· Ensure LEGACY Core Values and brand are implemented properly
· Conduit between LEGACY Program Managers and site support personnel
· Comfortable working with students ages 11 and up
· Support STEM events
· Acts as an interface between the AF base and the community:
o Visit target schools and socialize the program
o Develop relationships with local schools and communities
o Brief program when necessary
o Publicize LEGACY by using local and base media (newspapers, TV, combat camera, etc.) and coordinate with base public affairs office
o Provide and update social media content on LEGACY
· Responsible for coordinating video and photographs of student’s LEGACY experience
· Monitor and review LEGACY applications and re-applications:
o Identify and retain target students
o Determine LEGACY students for Craftsman Camps, Jr Apprentices, and Apprentices based on LEGACY rubric and consultation with LEGACY program managers
o Send out invitations and applications to all returning students
o Notify students of acceptance
· Oversee LEGACY product disbursement and resupply needs
· Update and maintain LEGACY laptops
· Correspond with students and parents/guardians; including program inquiries, application acceptance, camp/apprentice information, etc.
· Interface with local area (school districts, student programs, etc.), fielding questions relevant to their site
· Send Ready to Send emails out
Craftsman Camp:
· Work with camp site(s) point of contact to set up camp schedule using LEGACY provided activities
· Secure location with site point of contact
· Coordinate camp schedule with LEGACY program manager
· Pack LEGACY Craftsman kits
· Identify and develop potential camp activities to curriculum developer at WPAFB
· Identify camp instructors based on provided criteria from LEGACY team
· Prepare teachers for camps
· Ensure teachers are prepared for camps and fill out end of day/week evaluations
· Be prepared to back up/lead and/or teach any activity
· Receive activity materials, sort for camps, keep inventory, and create site storage plan
· Purchase grocery items if needed using LEGACY funds (eggs, soda, etc.)
· Find Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for camp demonstrations
· Set up site tours and museum visits for camps, if able (site dependent) and any transportation to these if necessary
· Attend each day of camp to monitor students and teachers for future LEGACY involvement – implement student rating system
· Coordinate end of camp presentations for parents
Jr Apprentice/Apprentice:
· Find and recruit mentors for students to work in desired fields
· Ensure mentors fill out task plans
· Plan and find support and locations for Professional Lessons for students
· Sign/Verify student timecards[LJECUAAE2]
· Discuss students’ performance with mentors
· Visit students throughout their time on base, welfare checks
· Set up end of year student presentations
· Work with base security to ensure students’ access to base
· Check in on students throughout schoolyear, minimum two times
· Track and provide data from camps and apprenticeships to the LEGACY program manager and site support personnel. Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with at least three years’ experience in a similar role.
Certifications and Licenses:
Valid state driver’s license – must meet insurance underwriting requirements.
Language Ability:
Multilingual is a plus. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Math Ability:
Ability to develop and calculate project budgets, figures, and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to seek clarification on project activities. Ability to research and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel and Smartsheets, and a variety of other basic internet software.
